Supreme Court Blocks Congress From Receiving President Donald Trump´s Financial Records

| | , ,

The Supreme Court ordered a continuing legal block on Congress access to years of President Donald Trump’s tax returns and financial records. The House of Representatives will not get President Donald Trump’s financial records for now, the Supreme Court said on Monday.

The action came after President Trump reiterated his legal arguments for a Supreme Court review of the battle over the congressional committee’s subpoena for his tax returns and financial records on Friday. President Trump´s lawyers urged the high court to continue the legal stay that has so far blocked the panel’s subpoena for the records.

Supreme Court ruling on the case would likely not come until mid-January. If House Democrats are planning to vote to impeach President Trump by the end of the year, the tax return investigation will likely not play a role.
