President Donald Trump responds to journalists asking about the termination of a military alliance by the Philippines. “I really don’t mind if they do. It’s going to make a lot of money,” said the President.

Philippine President Rodrigo Duterte announced on Tuesday that his country has crossed the Visiting Forces Agreement (VFA). That decision will take effect after 180 days. The VFA dates from 1998 and contains agreements on the status of American troops in the Philippines. The countries regularly carry out joint army exercises.

Trump was asked by reporters whether he would like to change Duterte’s mind. “I didn’t mind very much, to be honest,” he replied. “My views differ from those of others.”
