Hong Kong police warn that they could shoot with live ammunition. They’ll use live ammunition against “rioters” using deadly weapons. A police spokesman called on demonstrators to stop their “dangerous activities” to prevent a further escalation of violence in Hong Kong.
During the protests on Sunday in Hong Kong, a policeman was hit in his leg by an arrow. It was shot by a demonstrator. Demonstrators had also built large catapults with which they fired petrol bombs. The police have in response deployed tear gas.
The protests in Hong Kong have escalated in recent times. This week there was a death. Also in the coming days many protests are expected. That is why schools, universities and kindergartens will remain closed on Monday. The demonstrations are directed against the increasing influence of Beijing on the relatively free life in the city-state.
