The coronavirus is also contagious during the incubation period. This is the period during which someone is infected but has no symptoms of disease. This is where the current virus differs from the SARS virus, where this is not the case. The incubation period of the coronavirus varies from one day to two weeks.
China’s National Health Commission (NHC) said on Sunday that the new coronavirus is contagious even in its incubation period, which lasts up to 14 days, and that the virus’ ability to spread is getting stronger.
Saturday, the Chinese president warned that the coronavirus is “spreading faster.” On Sunday, the Chinese Health Council reiterated that warning. The transmissibility of the coronavirus is getting stronger, according to the advisory body. The Council therefore expects the number of infections to increase in the coming period. He also reiterated earlier reports that people infected with the virus might not immediately show any symptoms.
As well as locking down cities, the government was sending more doctors and nurses, and more medical supplies to Wuhan, Ma said. More than 1,300 extra doctors and nurses have been deployed to Hubei to help battle outbreak, with 1,000 more to follow soon
To prevent further spread, China wants to buy extra protective suits and mouth caps abroad.
